Future Professional Pilots Program at Douglas College
Joint College Flight Training Program
Professional Flight Centre has partnered with Douglas College to offer the Associate of Arts for Future Professional Pilots program. In addition to flight training, you’ll take courses that are university-transferable and are relevant to the aviation industry, such as geography courses relating to climate and weather, as well as psychology and business courses.
Douglas College provides the academic instruction leading to the Associate of Arts Degree, while the Professional Flight Centre provides the ground and flying instruction, offering enough flight experience to allow you to obtain a Commercial Pilot License and Multi-Engine Instrument Rating.
Under IRCC guideline, specifically the section “If you’re enrolled in a joint program that results in a single credential”, international students are required to apply for only one study permit through Douglas College.

Program Guidelines
This program is open to both domestic and international students. International students are only required to apply for one study permit through Douglas College; a separate study permit for the flight training portion is not required.

Receive a Letter of Acceptance (LOA) and PAL from Douglas College

Apply for a study permit

Upon arrival in Canada, complete academic studies at Douglas College and flight training at Pacific Professional Flight Centre
- The order in which you complete the academic and flight training portions of the program is entirely up to you
Program Length
Time limit to complete program graduation requirements is seven (7) years.

Program Overview
The classroom academics are taught at Douglas College, one of BC’s largest community colleges. This full-time, 60-credit associate of arts program includes courses closely related to the aviation industry, such as geography, business and psychology. All of the courses are university transferable giving you the option to further your education.
The flight training portion of the program is provided here at Professional Flight Centre, where you will obtain your Private Pilot License, Commercial Pilot License and Multi-engine Instrument Rating.
These components together will provide you with the foundation you need for a career in the aviation industry. Skills such as critical thinking and communications have always been qualities that airlines look for when hiring pilots. Hence, upon completion of this Associate of Arts Degrees as well as our Flight Training Program, employability of the candidate will have greatly increased.
Graduation Requirements
- Successful completion of 60 University Transfer credits. A University Transferable course is a course that transfers to one of the Research Universities – SFU, UBC (UBCV or UBCO), UNBC, or UVIC in the BC Transfer Guide.
- Require a minimum program GPA of 2.00
- 50% (30 credits) of all coursework must be completed at Douglas College
- Successful completion of Private Pilot License, Commercial Pilot License and Multi-Engine Instrument Rating at Professional Flight Centre
- Time limit to complete program graduation requirements: seven (7) years
